What is the Soylent Innovation Lab?
The Soylent Innovation Lab is a collaborative office space for up-and-coming food tech companies who share Soylent’s vision: to change the way the world thinks about food – for the better. As a member of the Innovation Lab, these startups will share the Soylent office space — including our conference and boardrooms, kitchen, bar, rooftop deck, and more — which will enable inspired collaboration while working in the heart of Los Angeles’s newest cradle of innovation: The Arts District.
What are the Soylent Innovation Lab hours?
Soylent Innovation Lab members will have key card access Monday-Friday 9AM – 6PM
What are the criteria for membership consideration?
We are looking to bring in three types of companies:
- Food Tech focused: Innovative companies that are creating food and beverage products powered by science and technology.
- Aspiring cause-related organizations: Companies who align with Soylent’s mission – to make complete nutrition accessible, appealing and affordable to all.
- Health and Nutrition focused: Innovative companies that are leading the way in the health and nutrition space.
How are members selected?
Applicants will fill out the application form and schedule a tour.
Companies will be selected based on their fit and alignment with the Innovation Lab criteria.
How long is the membership?
Memberships are month-to-month with a minimum of 6-months.
What do I have access to through the Soylent Innovation Lab?
We offer a collaborative office space, amenities and meeting space. The Soylent Innovation Lab also offers a range of value-added services, including mentorship opportunities, strategic resources, and access to a supportive community space that helps emerging food businesses launch, grow and thrive.
The Soylent Innovation Lab will also offer “office hours” giving members the opportunity to meet and learn from Soylent executives across divisions. Companies will have access to learn from division heads who will share advice and guidance in areas of interest within the food & tech space, from sales to innovation.
The Soylent Innovation Lab will offer periodical workshops led by outside experts in the food & tech space discussing subjects including, but not limited to:
- Brand and Marketing
- Sales and Retail Strategy
- Innovation and Manufacturing
- Nutrition and Food Labeling
Workshops will be available to companies within the program, a calendar of events will be available.
Will I have to sign a membership contract?
Yes, all participants will be required to sign an agreement that will provide protection for both the participant and Soylent in regards to the business idea and intellectual property.
How do I apply?
You can apply to be a part of the Soylent Innovation Lab by completing the online application at soylentinnovationlab.com, which includes questions about your mission and your company.
Can I speak to someone directly about the program and/or application process?
Yes, however we ask that all interested applicants first submit their completed applications via the Soylent Innovation Lab website. Applications submitted outside of the website will not be considered. If you have additional questions or are having technical difficulties submitting your application, please send an email to email@example.com.
Will all companies be notified if they are selected to participate?
Yes! We will notify all applicants within 10 day business days of their application.
When will applicants be contacted?
After you apply, you will receive a confirmation email message acknowledging the receipt of your application. All applicants will be notified of their application status by within 10 days. We may be in touch prior to that date to request additional information. Eligibility of applicants will be considered only upon the application and any materials specifically requested by Soylent. Please do not send unsolicited materials.
Is there any advantage to applying earlier rather than waiting until the deadline?
No. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply sooner rather than later.
